The editors

Andrew Marsh runs operations; Tucker Peterson leads the editorial pass on every title. Six more editors, copy editors, and production staff run each manuscript from intake through to its KDP launch.

The editors

Who edits your book

Two editors run the house. Tucker Peterson leads the editorial pass on every title; Andrew Marsh runs the operations behind it. Both names are on the editorial decision your manuscript comes back with.

Pass 01

Structural edit

The first pass. We read the whole manuscript for shape: where the argument sags, where the chapter order fights the reader, where the second act should have been the first. Tucker signs this off.

Pass 02

Line edit

The second pass. Sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph — clarity, rhythm, redundancy, the cadence of a chapter ending. This is the pass that takes the longest, and the one we will not shortcut.

Pass 03

Voice edit

The third pass. We check that the editor's work has not flattened the author's own voice. AI-assisted analysis runs first to flag drift; a human editor reviews every flag.

Operations Director

With the imprint since 2019

Andrew launched the modern Claude Publishing imprint in 2021 as a digital-native continuation of Claude Kendall & Co. A former programme lead at a Big Four consultancy, he brings institutional rigour to a craft long governed by guesswork — every manuscript moves through a measured, auditable pipeline.

Editorial Voice of the House

Tucker sets the editorial standard for every volume that carries the Claude Publishing imprint. An MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a decade as a senior editor at a legacy imprint have honed a voice that is at once authoritative and quietly humane — the signature our authors are known for.

The team

Eight people, three editorial passes

A small imprint. Each manuscript moves through the same eight hands — acquisition, structural edit, line edit, voice edit, copy edit, production, metadata, launch. The names below are the names on your editorial decision.

From the Operations Director

We kept the editorial protocol Claude Kendall designed in 1947 — three passes, no shortcuts. What changed in 2021 is that our editors now have AI-assisted analysis for the parts that used to eat their evenings: comp titles, metadata, formatting. The judgement is still human.

From the editor

Claude Publishing is a small editorial imprint. We edit books — mostly for the Kindle era — and we publish them through Amazon KDP. We are not a legacy trade publisher, and we are not an AI content mill. We sit between the two: the editorial protocol is the one Claude Kendall & Co. designed in 1947, three passes with no shortcuts, and the tooling around it is modern.

What that means in practice: your manuscript moves through a structural edit, a line edit, and a voice edit, each signed off by a human editor. AI-assisted analysis runs alongside — comp titles, metadata, formatting, the parts that used to eat an editor's evenings — and a human reviews every output before it touches your manuscript. The judgement is still human. The schedule is just faster.

Our editors do the work an editor has always done. What changed is that they no longer spend their evenings on the parts a model can do.

If that is the kind of house you have been looking for, we would be honoured to read your work.
